I park my car and shut the engine off, before picking up my bag and climbing out of the car. I slide the strap of my bag over my body and walk towards the cafe. Dyson told me Ace’s old lady, Ana, owns it. She took over the ownership when Ace’s mother passed away.

The weather is really nice today. I look up at the sky and let the sun’s rays soak into my skin. I love the heat. I love summer. Jamie London and cold don’t go together. My phone rings from my bag, so I dig it out. I smile when I see the name and the photo of the smiling face looking at me.

“Hey, Daddio.”

“Hey, kid. How’s my baby girl doing?” my dad Thomas asks me. My dads decided to take a one-month cruise around the Americas, and then spend another month travelling around the American mainland’s. Nice for some, right?

“I’m good, Dad. How’s you and Daddy?” Lewis is my biological father, and I call him Daddy. I call Thomas Dad.

“That’s what we like to hear, sweetheart. And me and Daddy are fantastic. Enjoying the sun, sea, and a shit load of food and drink. Oh, and the alone time… Damn, the things I can do to my husband when you—”

“Eww, shut up, old man. Oh my God, that is not something I want in my head. I am all for gay sex—it’s even sexy to watch two men—but when it’s my parents… For fucks sake, do not put that image in my head, father.” I fake gag into the phone and walk closer to the cafe.

I don’t ever get nervous about meeting new people, not like I used to, but for some reason, I’m slightly nervous about meeting Ana and Zarah. I know they mean a lot to Dyson.

My dad’s laughter comes through the phone, and Daddy speaks up.

“Oh, honey, don’t give our darling daughter nightmares. I think she’s had enough therapy to last a lifetime.” My heart skips a beat as I think about the therapy I went through, but in the end, it helped me a lot, along with what Aunt Trudy did for me.

“Thanks, Daddy. See, Dad, he knows how to not scar me for life. He must love me more.” I chuckle into the phone. My words are utter bullshit, because they love me equally. I took some shit growing up with two fathers, because it wasn’t really accepted back then, but fuck me they did a good job. They thought about adopting at one point but decided I was enough for them, so they stopped the proceedings.

“Oh hush, you, you little troll. How’s the pub? Hang on, let me put you on speaker. Your daddy is being a pain in the arse and is glued to the side of my head, trying to listen,” Dad says.

“You love me really. Plus, you love it when I’m glued to your arse.” I huff and realize what he just said. Their laughter fills the speaker on the phone.
