After giving Tali what she clearly needed, I had to get her to go to my office and get scrubs. There was no way I could walk out of Sanchez’s room covered in her juices without what went down becoming obvious. If we hadn’t been so far in the back, we would have been heard, but I didn’t give a fuck. It was enough that this nigga dared to walk in this room looking for her that had me tight as fuck. What the hell did he think this shit was? Because I didn’t bring this nigga here to pursue what was mine.

As I headed toward Blackbay, where Link’s casino was located, I pushed those thoughts out of my head. My thought of canceling everything for the day had happened, just not why I wanted it to happen. I had already contacted Faxx and Oz to meet me there. I didn’t know what was happening, but I felt like it had something to do with this nigga Jakobe. I know good and well I shot this nigga, but he wasn’t dead. The night we went back out on the street, I made that shit known we wanted his ass, and any muthafucka in Union City that was helping this nigga would die beside him. We wasted no time that night going into old clubs, bars, and homes Jakobe frequented. I didn’t give a fuck about who was there or what they didn’t know. By the time we left those places, they all knew the consequences of fucking with U.C.K., and they all knew if Ja showed his face, it would be in their best interest to shoot first and ask questions later.

I pulled into the parking garage and into the private parking area. Like at Emerald, the valet quickly approached my truck to park it. I stepped out and nodded to the young woman on duty.

“Should I keep it close, Henny?” she asked.

“Yeah, ma. Keep it nearby,” I said, handing her the fob. I walked directly to the elevator that I knew would lead me straight to the floor where Link’s office was located. The doors closed, and I stared at my reflection in the glass. I rubbed my tongue over my bottom grill, wishing I had the taste of Tali on my tongue instead of this toothpaste. The doors opened, and I stepped off, moving with purpose toward the large black doors at the end of the hall. They opened, and I saw Oz standing there as he cracked his neck. I walked in, and he closed the door behind me. Link sat behind his desk on his tablet and laptop. Faxx stood at the window, speaking urgently into his phone.

“What the fuck is so important?” I asked. Oz came over and sat in the leather chair in front of Link’s desk. I looked over at Faxx, who finished his phone call, and saw his dead-eyed stare that meant somebody was about to die. I took the other seat in front of the desk and waited until Link finished what he was doing.
