Chapter 21

I am a firm believer in fate and karma.

“Girl, give us the juice,” DeeDee said as she sipped on her drink. I went over the details of my time with Lanell and they were eating all of it up.

“Damn, Jazzy, that is off of the hook,” Jamar said, as he did the “Awww” face.

“Then he says to me, ‘Well, Jasmine, you can call me Lanell.’”

While I told them my story, I could still feel my heart skipping a beat. The thought of Lanell still drove me crazy.

“I would have said fuck L.A. and fuck Fantasy Pictures. I would have let them buy my contract out and gave Breeze the deuces,” DeeDee said while holding her two fingers up.

“Yeah, well I told them that I would think about it.”

“Are you fucking crazy?” Jamar asked.

“They are offering you the world, I would jump on it a.s.a.p.”

“Yeah, right, as much as you love doing porn?” I asked Jamar with the “There’s no way you would ever give up porn.” look.

“Well, I’m not talking for myself, I’m talking about you. This has never really been your dream; you just fell into it and happened to make it big. You should go, I’ll miss you like hell but you should take that job.”

“I am going to take it, I just needed time to really think about it and plan my move. There’s no need to miss me, I’ll be expecting the both of you out at least once a month. You two will stay the weekend and catch a performance,” I said as if I was telling them and not asking.

“Yes, ma’am,” DeeDee said as we shared a laugh.

“I’ll be there; I love Vegas, how about you?” DeeDee asked Jamar. He said that he would be there no matter what, and I believed them both. We all pinky swore to keep in touch and moved on to the next subject.

“So have you seen Tyree since Vegas? How long did it take him to move his shit out of your house? Fucking asshole.”

Jamar and DeeDee got a weird look on their faces and I was confused.

“What? Don’t tell me that he moved in with Ebony or something?”

I didn’t get why they were looking like they were out of place. I had asked two questions yet neither of them answered.

“WHAT?” I asked getting annoyed.

“Go ahead and tell her,” DeeDee said as my patients started to run out.

“Well, he didn’t really move out---.”

“Well, I was expecting that, how did you throw his ass out. Did you go all Angela Bassett on him and burn his shit, or did you just throw them out on the lawn?” I asked laughing. I could almost picture Jamar putting all of Tyree’s things in a trash can and lighting it on fire, with a blunt in hand.

“No, nothing like that, I decided to let him stay.”

“WHAT? I thought I heard him wrong, I had to.

“Yeah, he came over damn near crying and apologized. I just couldn’t bring myself to let him go.
