CHAPTER 46: SCOTT

“So, she’s the only one who doesn’t know I’ll be here?”

“Yep, mom is so excited to meet you. Dad

will probably give you some sort of warning. And

Chris, Liam and Ollie will all try to intimidate you

but as long as you play family football with us,

they’ll like you. David will be nice to you though.

He’s nice to everyone.”

“David’s your boyfriend, right?” her cheeks

go a little red, like how Rydell’s do.

“We’re just friends.”

“Right. Rydell told me you guys were in

denial about your feelings for each other.” “I’m sure she did, sounds like some other

people I know,” she mumbles. “So, this Lindsay girl

is obsessed with you and doesn’t like how close you

are with Ryles, so she sabotaged you.”

“Pretty much. I should’ve called her in the

morning to plan the movies. I was running late

though and it slipped my mind. I don’t know how

much of the story you heard, but I promise you I’m

not using your sister.”

“When I first heard the story, I was

obviously pissed. But you wouldn’t have gotten an expensive, last minute plane ticket if you were just using her for her brains. Plus, I’ve heard the way she talks about you, and you always seem to be together. Not to mention, this Lindsay character

seems like a bitch.”

“Well, thank you for picking me up and

making this happen.”

“Mhmm. If you do hurt her though, I’ll run

you over with this car. I’m sure my brothers

wouldn’t hesitate making you regret it either.” “The last thing I want to do is hurt Rydell.

I’ll keep your warning in mind though.”

As we pull up to what I assume is their

driveway I feel my heart rate start to pick up. From

what Andy has told me, it seems like Rydell is more

than willing to hear me out. That fact alone lifted

about 10 pounds off my shoulders, but I’m still

nervous.

When we walk up the porch stairs Andy

turns to me and says, “Stay here. There’s a lot of

people in there and I think you want to have a

private convo. Plus, Del has no idea you’re here.” I nod my head as I watch her step into the

house.

Holy shit. I can’t remember a time I’ve been

this nervous. I’ve sure as hell never been nervous

about the idea of talking to a girl before, but I’ve

learned with Rydell that there’s a first for

everything.

The door opens and I raise my gaze to see

the person who’s been driving me crazy.

She’s in a very Thanksgiving looking out.

It’s a dark red dress that has a floral pattern. She

doesn’t have her glasses on, and she looks so

fucking pretty. But she always looks pretty so I’m

not really surprised.

Her mouth is agape like she’s the last person

she expected to see.

“Hi,” really, that’s all you can come up

with? Hi?

She steps out the door and closes it behind

her. “Scott,” she rubs at her forehead. “What are you

doing here? How did you even get here?”

“After you left yesterday, I kicked everyone

out of the house and grabbed my keys to stop by

your place and explain everything. But I couldn’t

find my keys anywhere and by the time I got to your

apartment you had already left.
