We agree that is enough talk about the hefty things in our lives. We finish eating and drink more Goshem tea. Without using words, I tell her all about my visit to Enu. I tell her about Adore and how beautiful she is, about the green grass, and how my deepest desires materialized to form my world. I tell her how Baron came to me in the window and that is why I chose to leave. I could never live in a world he’s not part of.

Very early in the morning, Baron and I end up in a guest room on the top floor. I take off my pants and bra, leaving on my tank top and panties. I’d rather sleep nude, but I don’t want to make things more difficult for him. He keeps his eyes off of me as I peel off my clothes. It’s clear his avoidance is deliberate. The house is quite chilly, so I slide under the quilt.

He gets in behind me and wraps his arms around me. “They’re pink now,” he says, referring to my panties.

We both laugh. I turn to face him, and after a long time looking into my eyes, he presses his lips onto mine. Not long after, he flips me on my back and puts his hand between my thighs again. His fingers go to that spot, and before I know it, I’m moaning in deep pleasure.

“You can do it,” I whisper, encouraging him to go all the way this time.

His eyes are pinned to my face, and even as I speak, he does it again. I pull his shirt up by the hem and lift it over his head. He lets me.

His chest is solid, and the ripples of muscles are flawless. The contrasting colors of our skin look like a Picasso drawn in chiaroscuro. As the explosion within me ignites, I can’t help but form the expression he so desires.

He growls long and hard. “Clarity.” He moves rapidly on top of and inside me.

I cannot believe what we’re having is mere sex. Every movement tingles, no thrust is wasted. I’m building to an orgasm, and so is he. I hear him moaning so vulnerably, fighting a strong urge. As our bodies merge, he’s warm all over. There’s even sweat on his brow. I want to kiss him, do something besides lie here, but the pleasure is so potent that I’m lost in it. I want to thank the angel who made the first of my kind and who or whatever made the first of his kind.

“Baron,” I plead, but what for, I don’t know.

I see in his face that he’s battling over-heightened urges. When a loud moan escapes my throat and I can no longer control my body, he lets go. His letting go is way more intense than mine. I’m still in a euphoric daze, but his top lip is pulled up over his front teeth and his fangs are visible. He’s staring at my face, but I know he’s not seeing me as a Bloody Mary cocktail.
