Upside down

I write down someone’s initials MW and only later become aware of the fact that the second letter is simply the first one upside down. Now, although I wrote them both effortlessly, thinking of one as M and the other as W, I would have found it difficult to write down the second one while thinking of it as an M upside down. In other words, although the character W is the character M rotated through 180 degrees, it was only by thinking of it as a W the right way up that I could write it without thinking.
