Ten

I know that I tried to impart on Colin, the truth about the wolf, but this last time finally broke through. It was hard to explain in words, but once I accepted the fact that I was only one of two, it became easier to tell the love of my life. He had accepted the notion that the wolf and I were not the same, but how was he supposed to do that when it wasn’t meant to be possible.

I drove home and for the first time in my life, I was nervous to be around both Colin and an old lover. One knew the secret that kept me up at nights, and the other had no idea what I was dealing with on a daily basis. More often than not, the wolf and the human have the ability to change, but it became more prevalent and stronger on that full moon. With that in mind, I was going to have to let go, but it wasn’t like I was going to have much of a choice to begin with.

I heard my stomach rumbling, and I knew that it had nothing to do with my appetite but that of the wolfs. The wolf could feel that the Moon was upon us. It was letting me know without saying anything at all that it was ready to lash out and do what it did best. The hunger was hard to ignore, and I really did feel like somebody was twisting a knife in my gut.

It took me a little bit longer to get back to the cabin that we had rented. By the time that I skidded to a stop in front of the place, I was bent over and closing my eyes to the pain that was becoming almost too unbearable. I thought for sure that my appendix was going to burst. This pain must have been what mothers felt like during childbirth.

“I think that you know that I’m coming out.” Said the wolf. It was like I had some kind of split personality and I prayed for the day that I could merge the two into what we were before all of this happened. “I’m not going to hold back. If I were you, I would close my eyes and wait, until I’m done. Then again, I’m not going to allow you to do that. I want you to see what we are honestly capable of.” It was referring to me as if I was part of it and I suppose to some degree I was.

I barely stumbled from the jeep, before falling on my hands and knees with those pebbles on the ground digging into my palms. My body changed, and I had no chance to get naked, as my clothes began to rip from my body like they were made of paper. I heard my bones shifting, and my face contorted until I finally saw through the eyes of the wolf. I had to wonder what it was going to do and how it was going to contend with the fact that Tanner and Colin were near.
