When I get out of the shower, there are two lattes sitting on the island, but no man in my bed. I draw the towel tighter around me and check the counter for a note, but thereâs nothing. Someone had to let him in.
âWas Brent here?â I call out to no one in particular. Nadiyaâs and Destinyâs doors are both closed.
Deacon opens Destinyâs door and peers out. âDropped off the lattes. Promised to bring me one next time. I gave Destiny hers. You just missed him.â
First he ignores my orgasm call last night, and this morning he doesnât stay to fulfill the second part of our deal either. Annoyance zips through me. I showered and brushed my teeth in anticipation of a hot guy who smells like chlorine lounging in my bed. With a huff, I grab my latte and head to my room.
At my desk, I set down my drink and collapse into my chair, letting it spin around while I check social media. Sure enough, Val has posted captions to her photos that reference her boyfriend and things theyâve been doing without naming him. As I scroll through the comments, her followers are questioning the lack of thirst traps this week.
You wonât be getting any more of those, people. My fingers hover over my keyboard, tempted to stir the pot.
Thereâs a knock on my door, and I close my phone. âCome in.â
The door creaks open, and Nadiya stands at the entrance cradling her latte. âI mean, itâs not an orgasm, but Iâll take it.â
âApparently itâs all I get this morning too.â I hold up my cup in a cheers motion. âHow are you doing? I didnât want to ask last night, but I saw West with that other girl on the dance floor.â
âItâs whatever.â Nadiya stares at the lid of her latte. âI broke up with him.â
âDoes that make it easier?â
Her laugh holds no humor. âIt should, shouldnât it?â Her finger circles the rim of her cup, and she glances up. âDid Brent say why he didnât answer the phone last night?â
âHe didnât even stay to talk to me.â I drum my nails on the desk.
Nadiya tilts her cup up. âYouâve been attached at the hip up until last night.â Her eyes widen. âUnless heâs back with Val. Did you read her post this morning?â
âHe wouldnât do thatââ To me. âHe doesnât want her back.â If she offered him a threesome and he didnât bow down to that mating call, heâs probably in the clear. Another week together should cement his certainty and hers that theyâre done, and then we can go our separate ways. He probably doesnât need me now, but Iâm not keen to eliminate my free lattes and an abundance of male-generated orgasms just yet. Both of those are hard to find.
âYouâre putting a lot of faith in a guy you met just over a week ago.â
âAs you pointed out, weâve spent a lot of time together.â I do a slow spin in my chair and grab my latte on the way around.
