“Bathroom!” Sal yelled suddenly, jumping off the couch and flying upstairs, leaving Mama and the baby startled.

“Hurry!” Mama called after her.

Sal was ready to burst. She’d been so busy, she hadn’t gone to the bathroom since morning.

She made it in time, which was a relief. And then she realized something. She realized that she was wearing her poppy underpants beneath her regular light blue underpants. She’d been wearing them all day.

Sal was so happy she made a chirping sound and felt a shiver of joy.

Poppy!

She could hardly believe it!

She must have tried on the poppy underpants early in the morning and put her regular ones on over them. She must have thought she’d put the poppy underpants back in the box under the Christmas tree because that’s what she usually did.
