Bumble Bee

Crawling

among blackthorn stars,

the bumble bee is drunk.

Petals float

from her blunders.

Her wings

move in and out of humming.

On her body is the glory

of the sun’s

wet shine.

Sunday

Threads of gossamer, shimmering

currents,

drift through the garden.

The cherry tree receives you,

stains you

with blossom, sunlit and shadowed pinks.

In the distance, the clouds are deepened

with a smudge

of grey, the loosening of rain.

Summer Rain

The light is sunk here

like a tin ladle.

Beads captive on velvet

bend the leaves of barley.

The dust leaks

a familiar fragrance.

And your bare arms disclose

how intricate

skin can be, cool and wet.
