Chapter 17

From the moment Jaylynn picked her up from her doorstep, complete with a bouquet of roses to the concert and now dinner at The Capital Grill in Troy, he not only treated Carmen as nothing less than the woman she was, he kept her rolling in side-splitting laughter. She realized that his company was definitely something she never wanted to be too far from.

Wow. Not that I didn't think I would have a horrible time out this Jaylynn tonight, I'm definitely having way more fun that I would've ever imagined I'd have with this man. He seems like a pretty straightforward, really good guy, but I just don't know enough about him right now to make an accurate assessment of him. But I can assess that I'm having a wonderful time. It’s been years since I've had this much fun.

“Here you are, you two. Dinner is finally served,” their waitress said, as she placed their plates in front of them.

“Thank you,” their reply came in unison.

“You're welcome. Please let me know if you need anything else.”

“Will do. Thanks again.”

“Well beautiful, you've been awfully quiet since we sat down. Is everything all right?” Jaylynn asked. His warm genuine concern made her smile a mile wide.

“Yeah, everything's fine. I'm just having a wonderful time. And I'm taking it all in. Thank you, Jaylynn, for showing me such a great time.”

“No, thank you. You’ve made my night.”

“I'm so happy I took you up on your offer tonight. I would’ve surely regretted turning you down.”

“Luckily for you, you came to your senses just in time. But since you are having such an enjoyable evening, how do you feel about a second date?”

“I would definitely love to, but I don't know if that would be best right now,” she replied honestly.

“Why, is someone else in the picture?” He tried as best he could to brace himself for her answer.

“No. Or at least, not the way you’re thinking, but it is a little complicated. And I wouldn't want to waste your time.”

“Okay, cool. I get it. And I really respect you for your honesty. But how about we just continue to do things if this nature every once in a while. And see the where it goes. Neither of us is expecting anything, so what harm could it do? And if at any time, either of us decide we don't want to be bothered, or that this is becoming too much of a hassle, we say that.”

“I guess, that could work.”

“If you want it bad enough, it can. How bad do you want it?”

“I don't know about all that, but I'm definitely open to exploring this thing.”

“Now that's what I like to hear. Eat up, sexy. I'm taking you dancing after this.”

“What?”

“Yeah, dancing. I have this night planned down to the smallest detail. And just in case you don't want to see me again after tonight, I'm going to make sure I always cross your mind at least once a day.” He chuckled.

“I've definitely noticed, trust me.
