Jayden Pulled the old ranch work truck back around to the backside of the barn. Shutting off the engine, he turned to look at his new ranch foreman, Jackson Richards. The young cowboy had impressed Jayden over the last week or so with his knowledge and drive. He was definitely not one to waste time while he was getting chores done.

“Jackson, my mother reminded me that you need the keys to your apartment over the garage. Were you still planning on moving in this weekend?”

“Yeah, I was, and thanks, Jayden. I really appreciate you giving me a chance. I promise you I won’t let you down. If it hadn’t been for the economy and my family having to sell their cattle ranch, I would still be back in Montana working their spread.”

“I know you won’t. That’s one of the reasons I’m so glad we’re a horse ranch.”

They both exited the truck, each going their own way, Jackson to his truck and Jayden to the house.

Jayden headed straight to the bathroom once he was in the house. The day had been unseasonably warm and a shower before anything else was definitely required. Jayden was in the process of emptying his pockets when he glanced at his cell phone. As he pulled it out he noticed that he had a text message from Aiden.

Jay, J’s at 7! U in?

Jayden quickly responded.

Yeah, sounds good

Aiden was a man of few words. Jayden laughed when his best friend texted right back.

C U there! Jay

Within an hour, Jayden was on his way towards Johnny’s.
