Chapter Eight

Natalie’s meal with Slash ended way too soon. She didn’t want to go home, nor did she want him to leave. They left the restaurant, and once seated in the car, she turned toward him. “Don’t take me home.”

“Okay. Where would you like to go?” he asked.

“Your place.”

She didn’t have a clue what she was doing. All she knew was that she didn’t want to go home, not right now. He’d weaved a spell over her so she was able to forget everything else, and she liked that.

He pulled away from the restaurant, and she held their leftovers in her lap. The scent of Chinese food filled the car.

His words kept repeating over and over in her head. The magnetism of his voice, the heat, everything.

She believed him when he said that he’d been watching her just as much as she did him.

What did it all mean though?

Neither of them spoke.

It wasn’t an awkward silence.

The tension mounted between them so that by the time he pulled up outside of his home, she climbed out without his help, kicking off her heels and picking them up.

Slash rounded the car and pulled her into his arms, the glow of the moon shining down around them. His hands rested on the small of her back.

“I don’t know what it is you want, Natalie,” he said.

“I don’t … I’ve … I loved this evening, Slash. I don’t want it to end. I mean, I know it’s going to and then we’re going to have the usual after-date feel.”

“Then how about I make a second date?” he asked.

“I’m listening?”

“Breakfast? I make a damn fine breakfast.”

“And I’m really hungry. Like, totally starved. I mean, in the morning for breakfast.” She was babbling, not making any sense at all.

One of his hands left her ass and cupped her cheek. “Breakfast is always a good place to start.”

“I want this,” she said, once again blurting words out.

“What do you want?”

“You. Your hands on my body. I don’t know what I’m doing and I seem to keep saying that a lot and I’m probably driving you crazy with the same words and stuff. I really don’t mean to be a p—”

He silenced her with his kiss. Holding their food in one hand, she wrapped her arms around his neck. The hand he had on her cheek moved down her back, splaying out and holding her tightly against him.

She gasped, and he plundered her mouth with his tongue.

“I will do whatever you want, baby. I won’t push you. I’ll give you whatever you need.”

He suddenly held onto her hips, and staring into his eyes, she was overcome with need while everything became clear.

“I want you to touch me. I want to know what makes you feel good.” He took her hand and led her into the house. The kitchen was only partly done. They still had to go shopping for appliances. The one room that was done was the main master bedroom.

She’d furnished it with a bed that was delivered, but she hadn’t seen the final product, since she’d been sleeping in the shop.
