Part 3: On Tour

"It's incredible," I said, peering out the window at our first destination: Chicago. We went right through the city, skyscrapers all around us and people walking, going about their lives. Lives that seemed mundane by comparison now. I felt like I was living the dream for the first time in my life. I had no complaints.

A lot of people stopped to look as we went by, seeing the bands picture on the bus and knowing that we were in town. Blake was huge, and it showed everywhere we went. He couldn't go anywhere without being recognized. Even in the bus on the road, people honked, waved, you name it, all the time. It was truly surreal.

"You get used to it," he told me, worried that I would be annoyed at all my newfound attention. Now that I was his girlfriend, people recognized and clamored after me almost as much as him.

"I love it though," I said. Being in the limelight, having all these people look to you. I embraced it. Maybe I would get used to it eventually, but for now I thrived on it. It gave me energy that I had never felt before.

We had only spent a couple nights to get to Chicago, but life on the tour bus was already interesting. It was surprisingly way more luxurious than I thought it might be. At first I was ecstatic to go on tour with Blake, but then I thought about what it was. Living on a bus didn't sound too enjoyable.

But it was. Blake had his own king size bed at the end of the bus. How they worked that out, I wasn't going to ask. The rest of the band got a little bit screwed over on that. But the common areas were just like a tiny house or something. A full kitchen all crammed together, a nice bathroom, a table, couches, chairs. Looking at the bus from the outside, I'm still surprised knowing how much fits in there.

It was also weird at first knowing that we were constantly driving. We never stopped except to get gas. You couldn't really hear much from the outside, like other cars or the sound of the engine. It was all very well insulated. But when you moved around you could feel the inertia, and it was just a little uncanny. It took me awhile to fall asleep that first night.

As nice as it was, for what it was, I was happy we were staying at a hotel while we were in the city. We actually arrived a day early, so we had time to do whatever we wanted. Blake said that usually doesn't happen though. Most of the time they were from show to show, with absolutely no time in between.

It was a little hard for me to believe. I thought the lifestyle of a rockstar was a non-stop party. How did they make time to have fun if it was show to show?

"All the partying usually happens after a show, like when I met you.
