“And I can promise you it will” I mimicked Apollo’s self-assured, no, cocky as fuck tone as I shoveled that delicious linguini into my mouth in the privacy of my bedroom. How could Apollo be almost decent one minute and in the next, totally awful?

Awful? A tiny voice questioned in the back of my mind — an unwelcome voice, I might add — but it was hard to ignore the warmth in the pit of my stomach when I was around him, the feverish dreams that continually plagued my nights, and the fact that when I touched myself, thoughts of Apollo were the quickest way to reach my climax.

Which was exactly why I had to leave!

If I stayed working under Apollo much longer…I would literally be working under Apollo — all those hard muscles working above me…working me.

Ohhh God, help me.

I squeezed my thighs together as I closed my eyes. A lovely shiver danced across my nerve endings at the sinful thought and a spark jumped to life in my nether regions as my clit began to ache.

No! Stop it.

I smothered an aggravated groan and shoved another bite in my mouth, chewing away my frustration. It’d never been so difficult to walk away from temptation before.

Apollo was unlike any man I’d ever known.

He excited me in more ways than just sexually. He fired up my brain. I loved watching him work. There was a sense of pride watching him in action. He was like a predator circling his prey, sleek and dangerous. My breath caught in my chest, remembering the first time I’d seen Apollo take down a hostile business associate in a meeting. It’d been quick, brutal and efficient but utterly effective.

Apollo had built his company from the ground up and wasn’t about to let anyone piss in his playground. I respected that he protected what was his.

There was something so hot about that quality in him.

I got swept up in the fantasy of what it’d be like to be protected, cherished by Apollo.

For a moment I’d lost sight of the reality that Mr. Champagne wined and dined women for the conquest not the commitment.

And I wasn’t interested in being someone’s notch.

Not even for someone as epic as Apollo Daire.

Expelling an unhappy breath, I pushed my empty plate away and leaned against the plush headboard, absently noting how comfortable it was, and wished for the hundredth time, I wasn’t stuck in a gorgeous house in the middle of nowhere with my sexy boss.

First-world problems, right?

My gaze drifted to the window. It was too dark to see but I knew by the moaning winds, a blizzard was hitting the mountainside. By morning it would be a miracle if we weren’t completely buried in snow.

Sidenote: this was the perfect set up for a murder, which was exactly why I didn’t like watching horror films My imagination always got the best of me in these kinds of situations. Zombies were okay because they weren’t real.

I moved my plate to the nightstand and changed into pajamas before climbing into bed, snuggling into the thick bedding.
