I haven’t heard from Cali. Not so much as a good morning text or a note that I should check for her video review.

My stomach keeps grumbling, and I shut it up with more coffee. I’m jittery, and the caffeine doesn’t help.

Cali enjoyed her time immensely at the resort, but was it because of me or because the resort deserves a high star rating?

I believe we’re worthy of five stars, but does she think the same? She did fall off the ski lift, which, according to Julianna, had nothing to do with a malfunction and everything to do with Cali being careless.

The girl should be surrounded by bubble wrap.

I glance at my phone. Should I text her? She was the last one to respond, and I never answered her back.

I stalk the clock app where Cali posts her video reviews for Vacationer’s Paradise. A new video was posted two minutes ago.

Exhaling a sigh, I click on the video, and every fear inside of me is nothing compared to the horror I witness. There’s a close-up of my biceps, the tattoos that cover my arms. I’m not as tan as I’d like, but it’s December.

There’s no voice-over, just captions that pop up throughout the video.

Okay, so the video review focuses a little too much on me, but maybe that’s my fault. I did sleep with Cali.

Easy on the eyes. Awful on the slopes.

There’s footage of a ski lessons group learning to take the bunny hills, quite a few of them falling and tumbling into each other.

But it’s not me on the slopes. Is she insinuating that I don’t know how to ski? Cali never saw me on skis. I rub the back of my neck and watch in horror as the video goes from bad to worse.

Dodgy. Dangerous. Deadly. Would you let your kid ski here?

It’s an attack ad, worse than the mudslinging that goes on during an election campaign.

The video shows Julianna and her friend Izzie snowboarding down the slopes. They’re doing everything that I’ve taught my daughter, including wearing a helmet for protection. But Izzie wipes out in the snow.

And then the real nightmare begins. There’s raw footage from the security feeds of Cali slipping out of the ski lift and falling. We don’t see it only once. It’s replayed in slow motion three times over.

Is she trying to wreck the ski lodge? Does she want me to go out of business and close the resort? Because the video is pretty damning.

Billionaire Logan Henderson should stick to what he knows. The big city.

I should shut off the video. It’s obvious that nothing good will come of anyone seeing it. The saying about there’s no such thing as bad press never met Cali Sinclair.

The woman is brutal.

Vicious.

A true savage.

The only thing I regret more than helping her while she was here is sleeping with her.

I can’t watch the rest of the video. I swipe the app and close it, shoving my chair out from under my desk.
