*Time Is Money*

It’s amazing how fast time flies and people, places and things change. Seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years have a way of mutating and evolving things. Sometimes it’s for the better, but most of the time it’s for the worst.

Time can strip beauty queens of their luster and reduce them to horrendous monsters. It can turn bright and educated figures to drunken mumbling idiots. It makes lovers grow to despise each other with an irreversible passion. Childhood friends become sworn enemies dedicated to destroying one another’s foundation. It can also plague the soul bringing death galloping in on a black steed.

Of course, it also brings life and abundance of positive emotions. Unfortunately, while happiness is a lifelong treasure hunt, despair lurks in every nook and cranny on the planet. And given enough time everything good eventually turns sour. Money is the root to all evil but time is the soil that nurtures the sinister seed into a thriving tree.

“Grams, we don’t have enough time for this.” A-Plus said while posing for his grandmother’s camera. “Perfect will be here any second and I need to pack the rest of my stuff.”

“You just hold still and let me get some pictures of ya handsome face.” Grandmah Davis said. “You the first person in this family to go to college and I wanna remember this. Your mother would be so proud.”

“It’s not like I’m going to Yale Grams. I’m only going to USC.”

“The University of Southern California is a good school. You just make sure you go light on that wacky weed and them young heifers with their short skirts and fake boobies all hanging out.” She said while snapping away with her disposable camera. “You know they got these new diseases you can get just by looking.”

“Grams you crazy.” He said with a chuckle and smile.

“Damn I am, I might forget a few things every now and then but crazy ain’t on my resume.”

The front screen door sprang open and in walked Krista with more bags than a Christmas shopper. She was dressed in the finest clothing money could afford. Her jewelry shimmered under the radiant Pacific sun as if it was made specifically for this region. Huge shades hid her face and what was left exposed was plastered with extremely too much makeup. Her childish innocence had long been replaced by a shallowness that was imbedded deep into her bone marrow.

“Hi Grams.” Krista said while being trailed by her Toy Poodle. “A, give me a hand.”

“Yeah right.” A-Plus said with disgust.

Inside, A-Plus had a hatred for his sister that festered with every passing day. Not only was she rude, selfish, inconsiderate, snobbish and arrogant, she was also disrespectful to Grandmah Davis. But those were only a few reasons he despised Krista amongst a hundred others. The main thing that bothered him was her choice of a lover.

“Fuck you too.” Krista said.

“You watch your mouth in my house before I stuff a bar of Ivory soap in it.
