Accept the situation - Accept what went wrong so that you can get over the sense of shame and disappointment . This is also how one gets over grief. Iâm not saying you should be emotionless and just move on. Sometimes you may need to sulk too - without accepting our negative emotions, we can never truly embrace the positive ones.
I have a kind of a rule for myself - if I have been truly down for some reason and feel like I can no longer keep going, I allow myself a day to feel upset. On that day, anything goes - binging Netflix, comfort foods, most likely completely ignore all messages, calls, and emails. In my eyes, it is a reset button - a time to empty and then recharge my mental battery. I have only one rule in this matter - the day after, I MUST get up and continue the grind - I take a step back and start approaching the problem again, trying to see some overlooked solutions. Most of the time, the solution eventually presents itself. Whatever your process is -that is fine, dudeâremember to always DO YOU!
Donât forget to do introspection to find out where things went wrong. A simple trick is to state to yourself what went wrong aloud and why you feel the way you do or write it down. Something like, âIâm really disappointed in myself because I did not achieve Goal X.â
Just doing this will bring a sense of relief and clarity, and you may find that it really was not a big deal after allânot in the grand scheme of things, considering your long-term plan!
