Directions

1. Place all ingredients into a pot and bring to a boil. Turn off heat and allow to brew with lid on for 20 minutes. Serve warm or cold.

2. Store in your refrigerator once it has come to room temperature.

Turmeric Tea

Ingredients

3 cups homemade almond milk (see this page)

1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional)

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon grated ginger

¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of black pepper

Directions

1. Place all ingredients in a small pot and bring to a gentle boil, stirring to combine. Reduce heat to low and simmer for around 10 minutes. The longer you let it steep, the more intense the flavors will be.

2. Use a nut milk bag to strain if there are large pieces of the grated ginger.

Note: This quick, simple drink can help you sleep at night, will give you energy the next morning, and can be used as a coffee replacement. You can serve it hot or chilled over ice. I’ll even add a shot of espresso to this in the morning if I really need a pick-me-up. It tastes great after dinner too, if you’re craving something sweet or need a healthy after-dinner drink.
