CHAPTER 11

Craig and Wuji began their day with a relaxed breakfast in the hotel dining room, followed by a trip to a computer store and taxi ride to the airport. They checked every few minutes to make sure they weren’t being followed. Neither of them spotted anything suspicious, although Craig received several winks from curious young men. As they entered the airport, Wuji noticed a young man checking out Craig from head to toe. He unleashed a torrent of Malay, and the young admirer scampered away.

“Wuji, what did you say to that poor guy?” Craig demanded to know.

“I recommended he try a sexual position which requires only one person,” Wuji replied innocently.

“I’m so lucky you’re here to protect me from these young predators,” Craig chuckled. “This never happens to me back home. If I walked naked through the Seattle airport with a dollar bill tied to my neck, young men would remember the dollar bill, but not me.”

“I’d remember you were buck naked!” Wuji howled at his own pun, coaxing a smile from Craig. “I guess we’re just starved for white meat, so we notice all Caucasians, especially the handsome hunks.”

“I enjoy the attention,” Craig confessed. “Sorry if it bothers you. When the tables are turned, and we’re in the States, I promise not to get jealous when every male over forty cruises you in public.”

As they worked their way through security, Wuji considered that prospect. “You really think Americans will find me attractive?”

“Men, women, children, household pets,” Craig nodded. “They’ll all find you very attractive, I assure you. You’ll be swamped with requests for dates; maybe even marriage proposals. Everyone likes a handsome, well-groomed, talented, young man. America adores youth, and you’re just about the right age to be adored.”

Excited by the prospect, Wuji wanted to fly to Seattle the next day, but knew that was impossible. “Will you help me apply for a visa to visit the States when we get back to KL?”

“Eager to be adored?” Craig grinned.

“It’d be a pleasant change from being ignored,” Wuji quipped.

“Hey, I see the way people look at you!” Craig protested. “All sorts of people let their gaze linger, enjoying your handsome face and muscular body. You just don’t notice it anymore.”

“Maybe,” Wuji shrugged. “Next time it happens, poke me.”

“Okay,” Craig agreed reluctantly. “Prepare to be poked often, and I don’t mean in that fun, sexual way.”
