It wasn’t the sight of her house or the sound of clanking metal coming from under that half-built Corvette that grounded Bambi back to the reality that she was finally home, but that wonderful, delicious smell of old motor oil as she entered their garage.

Hearing her approach, Carl slid out from under the car, which was little more than a shell at the moment, and smiled at his soon-to-be wife.

“Hi,” he said.

“Hi, baby.”

Peter had dropped her off on the way home from the airport. She’d slept nearly the entire rest of the trip home. They’d all slept—partly from exhaustion and partly from the unspoken need to escape one another after days of being in each other’s faces.

Returning to civilization was bizarre. Phones, running water, the internet...the mad dash to get to work, to get home, to watch meaningless political dogfights on TV. Funny how far removed the Mangbeto tribe was from it all and yet, even they had many of the same problems.

Carl took her right there in the garage without even bothering to close the garage door. She’d been anticipating as much and had removed her panties in the airport bathroom before coming home, giving him easy access under her short skirt.

Despite the recent memories of so many penises inside her, no one felt as wonderful and comforting at Carl. He fit her like a glove.

They spent the evening drinking beer and talking about her trip. She left out the parts about all the many penises that had been inside her. She’d have to tell him eventually, but it could wait. She didn’t want to spoil their reunion.

Sleeping in her own bed, showering in her own shower—she’d never take those things granted again. There was no place quite like home.

The next several days were welcomingly low key. She’d talked to Blake only briefly and only so he could tell her they were all taking a few days off to decompress. He’d call her when they next needed her in the studio.

It was a hot and sunny day and she was finally feeling normal again when she decided to pay Carl a friendly visit for lunch. They’d fucked every single day since returning but it still wasn’t enough to satisfy her cravings. Donning a flimsy yellow sundress, low-cut both in the front and on the sides, and of course, no undergarments to get in the way, she stopped by a deli for a couple of sandwiches and drove to Carl’s garage.

Carter greeted her at the door. “Well, aren’t you a sight for sore eyes.”

“Hi, Carter.”

“Carl told me you were back. I was hoping you’d stop by soon.”

“I’m sure you were. But yes, it’s nice to see you and nice to be back.”

“Carl’s back there,” he said, nodding toward the break room. “Kind of in a foul mood today.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. Not sure why.”

Bambi ventured to the break room and poked her head in. Carl was at the table with a piece of pizza in his hand and his phone in the other.
