Chapter 6: Information Tsunami

“What is your relationship with the Procyon family mob?”

I watched Cassian’s jaw grind, how he tried to bite his tongue. I saw some blood dribble from his chin, and his face was twisted, muscles contorting as he wanted to keep himself from speaking.

“They took me in when I was homeless,” he blurted out. “I- I worked my way up to being one of Sekmet’s right-hand men,” Cassian boldly answered, bragging. He suddenly lifted his hand to the base of his neck, and his face twitched in pain. “This fuckin’ tattoo is starting to burn.”

“Shut up. What power does Sekmet wield? How do we defeat Sekmet?” Carter placed his hands on the table before him, giving Cassian a glare.

“He can bend blood. Turn it into anything he wants, but only his own blood. He slices his hand open in battle and then you are fucked. I don't think anything can counter it. It becomes harder than titanium. And he can fight in close combat, too. You think Caoimhe and Luighseach are impressive? You gotta see how this man fights. Other than that, he’s a fucking controling, manipulative asshole. I hope he dies soon,” Cassian blurted out.

“What do you mean by that?” Carter jumped on the lead.

“Well, shit, have you seen him? He’s like a walking seven-foot grim reaper. Using his blood in fights eventually took some kinda toll on his body. His blood is thinning, and his wounds heal slower and slower. He needs more blood transplants. I know he made his kids get metal surgically implanted into them for fights. Rebecca saw that. That’s what hit her back at the Haku River.” Cassian’s face went into shock. He’d tried holding his hand over his mouth, yet it simply moved down into his lap, a pressure in his body forcing him.

“Where is he now, most likely?” Carter stared him down.

“On the other side, it's called The Court. It's hard to get in. That’s where most of them live.” Cassian had begun to huff and breathe hard, his hands pressing against his neck. I could see him struggling with the cuffs.

“They wanna make Wonderland Emporium a monopoly. Probably use it to expand whatever drug routes they have as well. They’re slowly bringing customers only to them. Have you seen how many shops have closed down?” Cassian continued, “The Court. It's protected by a locking spell that only special people get keys to.” He pulled out the chain of his locker key, he gave the top a spin, the key’s lock mechanisms began to warp, and it turned into a different key. He placed a hand on his neck and winced.

“I can get a few of you into The Court. It’s the best chance to kill Sekmet. I can draw out maps of the place, tell you where the traps are, what room he will be in, the guards that will be there. The Procyon family doesn't use minotaurs like most for security. They wanted to really get their shit on lock.
