Chapter Thirteen

Just because we have rough, wild, kinky sex doesn’t mean that we don’t cuddle after. Wrapped in two towels—one around my hair and one around my body—Chase carries me downstairs into the kitchen. He sits down on a stool and holds me in his arms, gazing down at me with those beautiful brown eyes that seem to hold the future of the universe in their gaze.

“I’m not crushing you, am I?” I ask.

Chase chuckles. “Don’t be silly. You couldn’t crush me if you Banzai dropped me off a high dive.”

“Banzai drop?”

“It’s a wrestling move,” he smirks, setting me down on my back on the island. “So what do you want to eat, Becks?”

Stunned, I make a face at him. “Wait, you’re going to cook for me?” I ask. “Wait, by the way. Are you ever going to tell me how you got that Snow White cell and how the hell you knew that I loved Snow White so much?”

Chase smiles a knowing smile. “Yeah, I will.”

He goes to the fridge. I wait, cocking my head to the side.

“And?”

“I never said today, Becks.”

I groan. “You really are infuriating sometimes, you know that?”

“Yep,” he chuckles. “How about some gluten-free cereal with almond milk?” he asks with a grimace.

“Oh, allow me to swoon, Daddy!” I say dramatically, raising a hand to my forehead.

“Or…eggs, bacon, and toast with orange marmalade?”

“Make it grape jam, and you’ve got yourself a deal, mister.”

Somehow, Chase manages to look like Prince Charming when he turns around and flashes me a grin, his hands full of our breakfast ingredients. You might almost mistake him for a gentleman as he gets to work preparing our meal. Part of me wants to help him, but he just looks so darn handsome as he puts the bacon in a pan and cracks the eggs and starts whipping them that I can’t help but stay where I am and watch him.

“Like a young, sexier version of Gordon Ramsay,” I say softly.

“With a bigger dick,” he adds.

“What do you know about Gordon’s dick?”

Chase shrugs. “I just know mine’s bigger.”

I shake my head and laugh. “So cocky.”

This moment is so sweet that I barely know how to handle the fact that in the back of my mind I know that Chase is leaving in a few months for Los Angeles. What am I supposed to do with that? And how does he seem so unfazed?

“Chase? So…we’re like…a thing now, right?”

He eyes me from the stove. “A thing?”

“Yeah. You know. Boyfriend and girlfriend?”

“What, stepbro and stepsis isn’t good enough for you?” He smirks.

I grimace and wave my hands in the air. “Can you not?”

“I thought that turned you on?”

“I mean—yeah, but I’m trying to be serious for a second, okay? I just want to figure out what we’re—”

“Yes, we’re boyfriend and girlfriend, Becks. Since you wanna get all middle-school on me and have the talk. We can update our Facebook statuses too if you want.”
