I opened my eyes when I was sure she fell asleep and turned to look at her. She hadn’t been aware that I wasn’t sleeping when she kissed me, which was a good thing because I didn’t want her to see that I was shaken.

Her sweet little kisses rocked me, but not in a pleasant way. They scared me because of what they revealed about her growing feelings—especially since I realized mine were similar.

This whole weekend was like I arrived straight to heaven, going better than anything I had ever imagined, but it brought these unexpected feelings I didn’t know how to deal with.

I wanted things to be casual, but it was starting to feel like anything but that. I was never this confused about a girl. She was so much more than I expected, and now, for the first time ever, I was tempted to keep her.

Shit.

I ran my hand down my face and looked at her again, thinking how beautiful she looked when she was sleeping. She was looking even more innocent like this, which was the opposite of everything she had showed me this weekend, and the contrast was killing me.

I didn’t do relationships. I had occasional hookups, but it never led to something serious. I didn’t even care about those girls. Saylor, however, was making me question myself, and I wasn’t sure if I liked that.

This weekend wasn’t just about sex. Sure, we got along in bed perfectly, and I was sure I couldn’t get bored of her, but there was more to it. All those times she made me laugh. All those times I made her laugh and her lips curled into the most beautiful smile. Interests we had in common, and how the conversation never died with her. There was no awkward silence between us. I actually wanted to spend time with her out of bedroom.

If I didn’t know better, I would say I was falling for her fast, but it was impossible. There was no way I could fall for her.

I closed my eyes, clenching my jaw. I didn’t know how to deal with these feelings. Maybe I was just seeing something that wasn’t there. I had a nice time with her, so I was confusing it for something else.

Yes. That could be it.

I faced her again and threaded my fingers through her hair, wondering if staying longer with her would be a smart decision. If this could turn into something much more…

Or maybe I could do something to stop this from going any further. I could do it. We could end the arrangement before it turns into something serious, and it could be for the best.

She stirred in her sleep, turning from her back to her side so that she was facing me, and something warm stirred my chest. I wanted to hold her and keep her safe. I placed my arm over her waist, and she snuggled closer to me, her body seeking me even as she was sleeping.

And it was that moment that put a stop to all my rushing thoughts and doubts.
