When Casey walks out of the interview room, she nearly runs into Van Dorn.

He’s standing with Duck Andrews and another man she can only assume is Angel’s current chief, Oscar Floyd. Floyd looks disheveled, hair askew, like someone just got him out of bed. Maybe it’s a hairpiece. He must not live far away, but in a place like Angel, nothing and no one is that far away.

She can tell by the way they’re all looking at her they were talking about her.

Van Dorn’s arms are crossed.

She ignores the other two, turns only to Van Dorn. There are framed pictures on the wall over his shoulder, photos of Angel officers who’ve won past department awards. Commendations for valor, that sort of thing. Earlier she was so focused on sparring with Duck Andrews and getting to Anna, she didn’t really pay attention to them. Now she does.

Third down from the left, she recognizes the face.

Fuck me again.

She stares at Van Dorn, then nods back at the closed door behind her.

“We’re going to need that woman’s phone.”

Then leaves the station to find Trey.
