“WHAT JUST HAPPENED?” Casey asks as the paramedics cart Finley into the back of the ambulance. They have her strapped down and are taking her to quarantine. More government disease control looking authorities arrive and round up all the other animals still inside the vet office. The medic begins bandaging Casey’s palm, and his right shoulder after Karina pulled the second scissors out.

She looks at him, says, “Crunch time. It happens,” and laughs.

Karina drives back to the office, the cat purring in the backseat. Casey asks about the bear.

“Tazzy the Taswell Bear?”

Casey nods.

“We don’t need law enforcement in Taswell. When anything bad is about to happen or is happening, Tazzy just runs out from the forest and shoots electricity from his belly button. Non-lethal, without escalating things further. Babb, he’s considering replacing all law enforcement with bears like Tazzy. I mean, really, who would be dumb enough to try start something with an electricity shooting grizzly bear?”
