“Kelly, you are so brave. Do you know how proud we are of you? Wow, look at you, I bet you got these bruises from helping someone.”

“Yeah, that mean man kept hitting Bird, and I bit him on the leg. When he threw me into the wall,” he sniffed and wiped his nose on his sleeve, “Bird, she jumped on his back and pulled his hair.” Kelly looked at Arrow, “Bird said he doesn't have a soul. She said his eyes are empty. That's what Bird said.” He started crying, “I don't want him to hurt Bird anymore. I love her. She said I can call her Mommy. Is that okay, Daddy?”

“Yes, son. I would love for you to call her Mommy.” Then he walked to the horse corral and cried.

“What's your plan?” Brinley asked, standing next to him.

“Avery is going to try talking him out of killing Bird. She's going to convince him that a professional killer doesn't kill people who don't need to be killed.”

“She better convince him. Bird has gone through enough since I’ve known her. She survived a serial killer. I’m sure she will survive this fucker.”

“I hope so; I can't lose her. I died while I was having surgery. I saw Mary Jo. I told her I couldn't go with her. I told her I love Bird, and I was staying here on earth with her. I can't lose her.”

“If Bird gets his gun, she’s a crack shot. She told me her Dad would take her and Jonah hunting. Bird said she killed nothing, but she could shoot anything her Dad or Jonah pointed to.”

“That's for sure. She could out-shoot anyone in our community,” Jonah said, leaning against the fence. “Bird will do anything to save the baby.”

The baby, Killian, forgot all about the baby. What have I done to my family? I brought this monster to my family, and they are the ones paying. He walked back into the house. And picked up his daughter and called Kelly to come to him.

“I love you two more than anything in this world. Kelly, thank you for taking care of Gracie and for standing up for Bird. You are so brave. Do you know where he has Bird?”

“Yep.”

“What! You know where they are?”

“Yep, they're in a house behind McDonald’s.”

Everyone stood up and looked at Kelly. “Someone has to stay with the kids,” Killian said.

“I'll stay with the kids,” Emma said. “Go!”
