“Never Forgive”

Evelyn Crawford (Manny’s wife): Dave’s plan was the stupidest shit I ever heard. There is no way my husband conceived of it.

Yeah, we watched Nancy Grace and would talk about these cases, and Manny would lecture the TV, criticizing this person or that person for screwing up the crime or the investigation. My husband was smart, I know that much. And he was fascinated by all the ins and outs of the cases. He had an older brother who disappeared when Manny was a little boy. Walked out of their house one day and never came back. Always sounded to me like he took a train to Chicago or whatnot and never looked back. But Manny didn’t see it that way. He wished there had been a whole search-and-rescue operation.

So yeah, he had his little obsession, if you want to call it that. But lying about a missing girl? Deceiving everyone? Stealing from his neighbors? That was not my husband. We have two daughters of our own. Dave must have put him up to all that, I know it in my bones.
