The bastards couldn’t even go a day without pulling my strings.

With trepidation, I dumped my bag on the chair, picked up the yellow envelope, and opened it, spilling the contents onto the table.

I half expected to find another gun, knife, or some kind of weapon and was surprised when all that came out was a DVD with a note attached to it reading, “Play me.”

Having no choice in the matter, I slipped the DVD into the player and prayed it wouldn’t die before the video began.

I switched on the TV, configured the settings, and pressed play.

My heart skipped a couple of beats as I watched Noah, with a gun in his hand, enter a darkened room—a room I knew all too well.

He made his way to the foot of the bed and lifted his arm, pointing the gun at his unsuspecting prey. A second later, he pulled the trigger, making it look like he killed a man while he slept.

With my heart in my throat, I shook my head, unable to accept what they’d done. Anger like I’d never felt before coursed through my veins as I processed the lie that would be seen to be undeniable truth.

Noah hadn’t killed that man. I had.

How they’d managed to doctor the footage to make it look as if Noah had killed the cop and not me was doing my head in. They’d thrown him under the bus, and I couldn’t—I wouldn’t accept it.

The screen went blank. A second later, a message came rolling onto the screen:
