The Spirit Doctor’s Healing Touch

Despite the oppressive heat, which the rain earlier that day had done little to attenuate, Kalpana shivered as she glanced at the clock. Just a few more minutes until midnight, which was usually when the ghost made his appearance.

Although, Kalpana realized, she couldn’t really call it an appearance. She had never seen the mysterious spirit take on any substantial form. Yet, the power he could command over her body was more than sufficient.

When her husband, Jayant, had first suggested buying the century-old bungalow in Bandra, Kalpana had been less than enthusiastic. She would have preferred a modern flat in one of the newer, high-rise developments that were popping up all over Mumbai’s suburbs. Jayant had expounded on the bungalow’s rustic charms, and its historic value as one of the few old buildings still standing in that part of the city. What was more, he couldn’t believe the bargain price that the owner was offering.

Once Jayant had made up his mind about something, Kalpana had realized it was no use arguing with him. Less than a week after they moved in, Kalpana discovered why the previous owner had been willing to make such an offer. She decided to retain the servants he’d employed, and they divulged, after some questioning, that the bungalow was haunted.

At first, Kalpana had laughed about it, ascribing their stories to silly superstition. In the days that followed, she brushed aside a few strange occurrences—objects moving around the house, lights flickering on and off, and noises at night—to her overactive imagination. She was sure there was a perfectly rational explanation for everything.

That was until the first night that Jayant was away on a business trip, and she was alone in bed.

Now, as she recalled that night, her pulse quickened. Her spectral visitor had given her something her husband had yet to, after three years of marriage—a spectacular orgasm that had left her gasping for breath and yearning for more.

Kalpana glanced at the clock again. Would Tarun come for her tonight? It had been several weeks since Jayant’s last trip, and she yearned for the release that only Tarun could offer her.

She could trace every ridge on the spirit’s chest, yet her eyes told her that there was nobody there. Kalpana had long since given up trying to understand what was happening.
