“Uh, Keebles? What is happening?”

“I’m… not sure. That is unlike anything I’ve seen before.”

Elmer didn’t doubt it, because it was something he probably would’ve seen from the Adventurers delving through his dungeon, especially from those that were just about to die, but this was something else entirely. Lance suddenly seemed to grow in size while he stood there growling, seemingly in pain, and all of the leather straps holding his armor to his person suddenly snapped, dropping it to the ground with loud *clangs*. Somehow, most of his underclothes seemed to stretch enough that they weren’t ripped apart as he doubled in size, so that he was even larger than the musclebound barbarian woman. At any moment, Elmer was expecting the man to turn green like the Hulk, but despite appearing around the same size as the superhero, his skin stayed the same color.

“ROOOOAAAAARRRR!!!”

Lance, in his transformed state, walked forward with powerful stomps of his enlarged feet – which had completely shredded his boots as they got bigger – until he crossed the threshold for the Octopus to start firing its water streams again. When they hit Lance, he didn’t even slow or seem to feel the water hitting his body; instead, he kept walking steadily forward, until the pressure was hitting him hard enough that his stretchy shirt started to shred, leaving his chest and torso exposed.

That was when Elmer saw a small sliver of something embedded right above his belly button, and he immediately felt a kinship with it for some reason. It was only after his helper started speaking that he realized what it actually was.

“That’s it! He’s using a sliver of a Dungeon Core to enhance his physical attributes!”
