CHAPTER TWELVE

Sophie

The next morning, I was happy to wake in William’s embrace. He looked down and kissed my nose. “Good morning.”

“Good morning.”

“There’s a couple of things I have to do. We can go shopping around noon.”

“Can we spend the afternoon together?” I hated that I sounded needy.

“Yes. You’re mine all day and,” he waggled his brows, “all night.”

“Except for that bit when you work.”

His eyes narrowed and he taunted, “I could chain you to my desk while I worked.”

I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, that’s not happening.”

His lips twitched. “Fine. I promise you that I’ll get all my work done by noon. Shower with me.”

I hopped up. “Okay!”

He laughed as he followed me into the bathroom, slapping my butt along the way. I brushed my teeth as he adjusted the shower settings. When I joined him, he lowered the showerheads even more. He looked at my body and grinned at my pebbled nipples.

“You want the water warmer?”

“Yes, please.”

He chuckled as he adjusted the water. “So polite, as always.” He kissed my head. “Sweet Sophie, I don’t mean to be bossy.”

“I have no problem saying no.”

He kissed my nose. “I like that, too.” He proceeded to show me how much he enjoyed me, rasping, “May I?” before he kissed and touched me every part of me. My body hummed from his teasing until I couldn’t take it anymore; I begged him to enter me. He cupped my bottom and effortlessly lifted me against the wall, holding me as we made love. His grip on me was tight as he whispered my name, and I lost myself in him.

After, I made him breakfast and brought it into his office. He smiled and waved me in, taking the plate and putting it on his desk. He was talking to someone on the phone and asked whomever to hold for a moment, kissing me quickly before returning to his conversation.

I pulled out my tablet and did some research on bed prices and features. I was a little surprised at how expensive they were and decided I’d just get the mattress and box spring to start. Besides, having the headboard bump against the wall wasn’t a great way to be a good roommate.

I looked for fun things to do in the area and hoped Liam would be up for something cheesy, like a Duck Tour.

My phone alerted me to a text from my pharmacy in Indiana stating that my birth control prescription was ready for pick up. My eyes rolled as I tried to figure out the quickest way to get them to California. Since Curt had picked up the prescription in the past, I decided to ask him for help.

I texted him.

Hey, it’s Sophie. I need a favor.

My phone rang immediately. “Sophie, are you okay?”

“Yes, I’m fine. I just need a favor.”

“Anything.” Curt said, letting out a breath before I heard him say, “She’s okay.”
