Jeremy and I picked up food at a quiet pizza parlor downtown and then returned to the mansion. We snuck back in the same way we'd left, which was to say I jumped into the backseat and did my best to hide while he drove through the gate and into the guest house parking garage. Everything went according to plans, but to be honest I wasn't entirely sure what our plans were anymore.

We had information now, or at least more of it. What did that help, though? What exactly could we do? Alice Hamilton was involved in all of this in one way or another, but there were still more than a few things that Asher and I needed to take care of and figure out.

The leaked sex tapes and the pictures of us during our private, intimate moments wouldn't just go away. In all honesty, I wasn't sure they'd ever go away. We could keep them from being broadcast all over the news, but they'd always exist in one form or another on the internet, in closed off, hidden places. Someone could find them, someone could...

The idea worried me. I loved what we'd created together, and I loved that it was something intimate and special between us, but that didn't mean that I wanted to share it with the entire world. There wasn't much I could do about that anymore, though, now was there? Not quite, and not exactly, but I thought we could find a way to work through this. Somehow, at least.

The real problem was that I wanted to keep doing it. I didn't want to stop the sorts of things that Asher and I did together just because of some abrupt breach of confidence. I didn't want to feel like I couldn't enjoy myself. We weren't doing anything wrong, were we? Of course not, and yet the way that people made it seem, the way that people seemed to use situations like this to hurt and debase the people involved, their relationship, their love...

It had happened before with others. It would happen again, too. I knew this, and I understood it. Asher and I needed to figure out how to deal with our problem, though. It was different. Everyone dealt with their issues in their own way, and we needed to deal with ours.

That simple fact made me feel better. I felt a little more sure of myself, and a little less confused. Also, the pervasive smell of takeout coming from the front passenger seat helped me forget my worries, at least a little bit. My stomach grumbled, begging for food.

"Hungry?" Jeremy asked, peeking over his shoulder and smirking at me.

"Yes," I said. "I think so, at least. I don't know why you won't tell me what you got."

"It's a secret," Jeremy said. "I've been checking this place out a couple times a week when I'm waiting to pick up you or Asher. It's new. Nice place. Also, one of the girls that works there is cute.
