The Queen stared down at me, her eyes narrowed as if she was trying to pry into my thoughts. I tried to test her magic, because there's a deep well of power within her that I can sense. But again, it slips away, feeling different than it did the last time I was here.

"Your gracious hospitality is appreciated, Your Highness. But I'm sure that whatever care my sister requires will be more easily provided within our own Realm."

The Queen looked over to the side and I felt a presence step up beside me.

"Captain," she said. "Prince Vanir has earned a good night's sleep. I'm sure he's exhausted by his travels." He nodded and swiped his hand to the left, urging me to follow his direction.

"Again, your concern for my welfare is well done, but I wish to see my sister before I rest."

"It is for your own safety that I recommend you take the chance to sleep. You must be in the peak of health to best assist your sister after all. Tomorrow we will have many things to discuss, I'm sure. Refreshments will be brought to your room."

With that, she turned her back to me, the train of her dress swept out in a wide arc, and the guards were at my back, swords out and at their sides, ready to strike if I refused to follow where they led.

As we depart the throne room, I search the corners for signs of anyone else, but there is no one for me to find. I still found the visible lack of servants strange. The sense of hollowness about the castle held until the guards delivered me into one of the large guest rooms. A large bed sat against a wall and there was a desk as well as an attached toilet and bath. The captain of the guard smirked at me as he left, the door shut firmly behind him. I expected to hear a lock slide into place, but that never came. It doesn't matter, though. I was still a prisoner in this place. For now.
