I speed through the winding roads that lead to The Nest. Roads I've steered through thousands of times. I know every pothole, every crevice of these streets. But avoiding potholes isn't the most pressing issue on my mind right now.

My crew is behind me, following in the wake of my engine's thundering. We're on total lockdown until we get this shit figured out. We're gonna have guys on patrol around the clock. Motion sensor equipment. Cameras. Dogs. And if somehow this goddamn tiny ninja gets past all that, he'll have about twenty of my brothers to contend with inside.

Good fucking luck, asshole. If this guy actually gets to my father, then maybe we deserve to lose him. It'd be a fuck up of epic proportions.

If we let this guy chop off the head of our MC, maybe we deserve to fall.

We pull into The Nest's parking lot. And the first thing I see is Nemmi in a little white dress, leaning against her car.

My body relaxes at the sight of her. She's not fooling anyone with that white dress, though. She looks like a heroin addict going to prom.

But she still looks fantastic in it.

Thank God she's here. It means I have a shot. Though I don't know how mad she is. I need to show her how sorry I am. I can't push her around like I did. She's too fragile.

We all park our choppers in the drive, activating our kickstands, the loud din ceasing. The smell of oil and gas lingers in the air. It's an aroma I've grown to love. Smells like power.

I get off my bike and stroll up to her and stop. I don't say a word yet, I just let the guys pass me on their way inside.

Rift turns to her on his way in, "Hey, when I come back out here, I wanna see my ride right there where I left it, ya hear?"

Nemmi gives him a smile, and a middle finger. He turns around and laughs as they all disappear into The Nest.

I really do like this girl.

I stand in front of her, looking her up and down. She's just stunning. What's a cute little girl like this doing with a monster like me?

"Hey," I say to her.

"Hi," she squeaks. Her head's angled down, but her eyes are looking up at me.

We share a moment of silence together. "That's a nice dress," I say, "And it's in your favorite color."

She giggles, running her hands down it. "Thank you," she whispers.

"Look, uh, I just wanted to-"

She cuts me off, "I'm sorry," she says.

Sorry? I shake my head at her. "Beautiful, you've got nothing to be sorry about. I'm sorry. I had no right blowing up like that. I had no right pushing you like that. You're your own person and, I dunno, you make your own decisions. If you don't want my help, I can't force it on you."

Her eyes start glistening in the moonlight. "I do need your help," she smiles through tears.
