Katie was glad to be at Bran and out of the taxi. She shared her suspicions with her friends about the driver. The others thought it was odd too.

“Hey, did you see the sign that said there was a special event at the castle tonight and it’s closing early today? We’d better get going. We don’t have as much time as we thought we’d have.” Cam pointed out.

“We’d better split up into two groups. Ruth, you go with John and I’ll go with Cam,” Katie said. “That way we’ll cover more ground in less time.”

Everyone agreed to Katie’s plan. “I wish we knew what we were looking for exactly,” John said.

“Believe me, I do too,” Katie said. “All we know is to be here and look for something that a ghost told us about in my sleep. That’s not too vague, is it?” she joked.

“Make sure to look at all the pictures and read what’s written. Maybe Anna’s name will be on something. So, Cam and I will start at the top and work our way down. Ruth and John, why don’t you start at the bottom and work your way up? We’ll meet in the middle.”

Ruth and John went to the old well in the courtyard first. A sign next to the well said Queen Marie put an elevator inside the well shaft back in the 1930s. They looked down into it. The well was only a few feet deep. Someone must have sealed it up. They guessed workers would have found anything hidden there. They went on to the torture museum next.

Katie and Cam climbed the stairs to the top of the castle. Katie suggested they should split up but stay on the same floor. This made Cam a little nervous, but he knew that’s what they needed to do. They didn’t know what to look for, but they’d try their best. Ok, let’s get this done. We’ll find it and that’ll finish it, Cam thought.

Once up in the Queen’s bedroom, Katie started looking in earnest. Next to the queen’s bed was the window that the ghost had pointed out from. Perhaps the ghost would appear again over there. She was right. Only moments after she stopped at the window to look out, things started to happen.

First, she saw her breath flowing towards the window. As her breath hit the window, it fogged the glass.

Then, reflected on the fogged glass, Katie saw herself and the inside of the room. The thought, I should have brought a jacket, jumped into her head. She realized she was cold and the room was now dark. What she saw looked like a different room entirely. It had all changed drastically.

She took her time turning back into the darkened room. It was like someone turned out the lights. It was completely different. From one of the shadows, Anna stepped out. Anna walked slowly toward Katie. Anna had a smile on her face. Katie hoped it would stay there.

“Dragă, ai venit! ai venit, ai venit.
