Chapter 4

Lydia rolled over in bed, head pounding. It felt like a week-long hangover that was only now beginning to fade, and Emma seemed even worse. Her girlfriend remained passed out, face pressed sloppily into her pillow, her hair a mess.

It was the loss of the locket, they’d realized. It must have had some effect on them, even while they were using it to control other people… the night before, they’d made a loving promise to repair their relationship once they felt better and recovered from withdrawal.

She went downstairs, feeling like hell, and made some coffee. The hot black liquid - and some painkillers - seemed to lighten the pain a bit. She sat in the kitchen and watched the bare trees sway in the chilly morning wind outside.

Her thoughts mostly dwelled on the rather insane things she and Emma had done while under the locket’s influence.

Wrapping her robe tighter around herself, she took her coffee downstairs.

Rachel stirred in her cage.

“Morning,” Lydia grumbled. “You’re sure you don’t want to go?”

The girl’s brown roots were now clearly visible under her black hair.

“Are you kidding? This is great. I needed some time off from classes anyway.”

Lydia shrugged, and separated her robe at her waist. “Alright.”

Excited for her morning wakeup ritual, Rachel thrust her head between the bars and buried her tongue.

Lydia was forced to hold the chill bars with one hand to keep steady. The girl really had grown into a good little expert slave, and if she wanted to stay, well…
