Mit-noc glared at the spy vid monitor. Hours after entering, the clan had yet to emerge from Gabriel’s apartment. The discussion at the Rossis’ shop, which had appeared to put to rest the initial fascination between clan and Earther, hadn’t been so final after all.

The Kalquorian freighter was scheduled to leave in a couple of days. Would Nal’s toy be on it and out of Mit-noc’s reach? If so, time was running out for the Aksukt to gain control of the situation.

Mit-noc had to act. He turned from the monitor and stared through the doorway to the sleeping cabin in the rear. After a few moments, he nodded to himself.

He set about organizing all he needed to collect his unwilling passenger. When the chance came to grab Gabriel, he’d be ready.
