Chapter 3

Elisa woke with a sigh, trying to burrow deep into the covers around her before she remembered what happened earlier and where she was. She blinked then, and looked around, noticing the missing warmth where Morgana spent the night. The alien empress wasn’t around, and the blonde released another sigh, letting herself be for a while. She didn’t know if she was expected to stay where she was, or if Morgana intended for her to seek her out, but Elisa was comfortable enough and remained there.

She stayed there for about ten minutes before someone knocked at the door and entered when Elisa told them to. It wasn’t Morgana – she would have never knocked – and Elisa gathered the covers around her figure, trying to hide the body underneath. She didn’t have any clothes at hand and didn’t want to embarrass herself.

The being that entered the room was unlike any that Elisa had ever seen. She was red-skinned, smaller than Morgana and definitively female if what seemed to be breasts on her chest were any indication, but more broad-shouldered than any man Elisa had seen. Something like tentacles or tendrils flowed down from her head in what seemed to be a poor imitation of hair, and her eyes were almost as red as her skin without any kind of noticeable pupil or iris.

“Hello,” Elisa started hesitantly, but even though she couldn’t interpret the look the other woman gave her back she realized she hadn’t impressed her guest. “Who are you?”

“I’ve come to give you this.” Whatever scorn the red skinned female might possess for Elisa didn’t show in her voice, a voice that was far deeper than that of a human woman. The blonde didn’t take her eyes off the alien as she approached, and barely noticed the clothes that were put atop the bed a few feet away from her.

Elisa looked from the clothes to the other woman’s face, and noticed she had no intention to leave the room. “I would like some privacy please.” It might have been just an impression, but Elisa could almost see the other female’s embarrassed realization as she retreated without a word. The blonde shook her head and dressed herself.

Morgana had sent her only a robe and some lingerie, and Elisa shook her head again. The empress’s underling might be unused to Earth, but Morgana knew perfectly well what was considered acceptable clothing, and gave Elisa the barest amount to make her feel comfortable.

Once she finished, the blonde called out, telling the other female that she could enter once more. The alien did so, whatever embarrassment she had felt before having disappeared, and gestured for Elisa to follow her. Elisa started to, but then felt something brush against her mind, a probe coming from the direction of Morgana’s attendant, and she almost stopped, surprised. It was weak, far weaker than any psychic attempt Morgana had tried before, and the superhero had no difficulty blocking it.
