Everyone turned to face him, shuffling facial expressions between shock and awe and disbelief.

“What..?” Wren asked, looking between the two with amusement. He particularly seemed to be getting an obnoxious amount of enjoyment from the recent come-to-light facts.

“I remember that.” His head snapped up. Rory’s face drained of all colour as she too turned to look at the dark haired male at the back of the room. His tight face was pale and rigid, his entire body obviously uncomfortable in the fascinated attention and focus of everyone in the room.

“That’s impossible.” Rory whispered to him in disbelief.

“Shit.” Crisp muttered a little too mirthfully and tried to push his laughter down before it could interrupt them. No sound pushed at his words, no light laughs interrupted the painstakingly apparent quietness that took over for the jortling chatter that had occurred a few moments prior to the astounding revelation.

The room had gone too silent.

“How could I not remember that it had been you?” Rist ran a hand over his forehead at the hastily returned memory, looking her over like a fascinating specimen in a brand new jar. His black hair pushed back at the gentle stressed caress.

“It couldn’t have been you.” Her heart pounded hard and it felt like her airway was constricted, her lungs tightening in response.

There was no way it had been him, she would have remembered the scarred male that stood before her. But he spoke, thickly swallowing before beginning his reasoning.

“I was travelling at that time and wanted to see Gaerith. It was after the war, after I had heard everything. But I didn’t come back for a few more years to join the military. I was looking for any news regarding my family.” Rory shook her head, refusing to accept it. He took her in, smile faltering with each daming word.

Rist went on.

“You wore a sapphire blue dress, and your hair…it was cropped. To your shoulders.” He recalled, never taking his eyes off of her. His hands mimicked towards his neck; where her hair had been at that point in time. It hadn’t been too far off from when she had joined the mortal King’s army and began their life long feud.

“What the fuck?” She whispered, eyes wide with horror or shock, he didn’t know. Her mind raced to go over that long forgotten night, trying to picture the face of the devastatingly handsome male she’d been with before her mother came in. It had blended in too many with the other memories of so long ago, so hard to pull out from them.

Including the night of blackness, where she had drank too much. Parts of her confused what happened the night with the suitor with the night of too few memories.

“Well at least your secret didn’t get out.” Levana snickered and Wren smacked her shoulder with a green pillow.

She let out a soft oomphf.

“I think it’s time to call it a night.” Crispin said, sobering up as he tried to spare them both anymore embarrassment. Rist’s face had indeed gone as blood red as the wine in Crisp’s half empty glass.
