Chapter Eighteen

FOX

I stare at the thirty something year old man in front of me as he thumbs through my portfolio. “I would love to get tattooed by you!” He lets out a breath before setting the binder down. “I just don’t think your pricing is reasonable.”

I fight back a laugh. By the looks of the scratcher work that covers nearly every inch of his body, I’m guessing he’s never paid more than fifty bucks and a pack of smokes for a tattoo.

“Well,” I force a smile that I guarantee doesn’t meet my eyes. “I will have to take that under advisement.” I lie as he walks away, and my scowl instantly returns while I walk over to the folding chair behind our table and sit down. My fucking body hurts, I’m annoyed, tired and I miss my fucking bed.

We’ve been in Nevada for three days and while the guys went out, got drunk, gambled and banged any woman they could find, I stayed in my hotel room playing – The Office trivia with Janie while trying to get her to talk to me. It hadn’t gone well. I know that she lied about being good with a one and done session, but I didn’t want to press her on it. I freaked out when the lust fog cleared, and I realized what I had done.

It isn’t even that I fucked Tony’s daughter, not that I won’t continue to use that excuse if ever asked. It’s that…I fucked Janie, and what I thought would easily be a hit and quit ordeal, is anything but. Her soft skin, her cries, when she screamed my name, and I watched her eyes glaze over and her nipples harden as she came around my cock. Or when she looked me dead in the eyes and told me to cum for her…fuck I’m getting hard again.

Exactly my problem. Janie is the first woman I have been with that I continue to think about after sex. It’s annoying and I don’t like it at all. I don’t like that when I dropped her off at Ren’s, I wanted to kiss her goodbye. I hate the fact that the moment the guys and I landed in Vegas, they got their phones ready for hookups while I deleted Tinder. And I loathe the fact that I keep looking at my phone, waiting for her trivia question – since it’s all I can get out of her. I shouldn’t want Janie Pierce; I shouldn’t miss her. This needs to stop, I’m not allowed to miss her.

But even as I tell myself not to, I fucking do miss her. I miss her smell, her sarcasm, her snarky remarks. I miss her flipping her unmanageable curls out of her face a thousand times a day. I miss the way her eyes twinkle with mischief as she and I banter back and forth, and I fucking know she is about to hit me with a smart-ass remark.
