I’m not going to let Silas intimidate me. Well, okay, Silas already intimidates me, but I’m not going to let him know that. I have to walk in there with confidence.

I am not sorry about what I did yesterday. I don’t regret going to that motel. I mean, I do feel bad about breaking my word to him, but I am not going to be a good little mafia princess anymore, and he should be proud of me for that.

And I do not feel bad about what happened with Baron. It’s not like I belong to any of these men. He’s not my boyfriend, and I refuse to live my life like I belong to anyone. Not anymore.

“Come in,” he mutters, staring at his computer as I step up to the doorway.

With my head held high, I march over to the chair in front of his desk. He ignores me for a long moment while I sit there, waiting for him to say something.

Finally, he looks up from his computer. “What are you doing, Iris?”

I clear my throat. “I’m trying to kill Vincent Maretti—”

“That’s not what I’m talking about,” he bellows, his voice deep and loud, making my confidence shrivel. “I admit we don’t have women in the house often, or ever. But I refuse to cause a rift in our business—or family, because a beautiful girl steps in and fucks everything up. Understand?”

My eyes widen, and my temper starts to rise. “I fucked it up? Me? How about you learn to keep it in your own pants instead of blaming me?”

He looks visibly offended as my voice starts to rise. I pound my palms flat on his desk, leaning forward to glare into his eyes. “Or,” I shriek. “Would it kill you to give your kids an actual life with girls and friends, so you don't end up with an eighteen-year-old virgin for one son and the other a fucked-up murdering sociopath!”

“Lower your voice,” he growls, glaring angrily at me.

“No! I refuse to be the object of blame because you all wanted somewhere to stick your dicks!”

“Iris,” he yells, trying to stop me, but I ignore him.

“And it’s my fault that you wanted to fuck the girl who was also fucking your son? You didn’t care then, so why do you care now?”

I stand up and spin to leave because I don’t care anymore what Silas thinks or how angry he is at me. I won’t sit here and listen to him calling me a fucking rift in his business. But he’s on me before I can slip through the door. His arm wraps around my waist and he spins me quickly, holding me against his chest. I’m lost as to what he’s doing until I’m draped over his knee and he’s tearing my pajama pants down my legs. I gasp and fight to get out of his grip, just before his hand lands hard against my ass.

“What are you doing?” I scream, struggling to get away.
