poured myself a stout drink. Some people hadn’t eaten breakfast yet, but I didn’t care about what time the clock said. I was going to drink away the memory of this entire shitty morning. I didn’t care how long it took. My plan was to drink until I passed out or until I ran out of alcohol. Luckily for me, I stopped at the store and bought enough Jack and Coke to inebriate an entire basketball team. I liked my odds.

“Here’s to you, Brayden Tucker,” I raised my glass. “You are without a doubt the biggest piece of shit that I know.”

I downed the first glass. It stung a little as it made its way down my chest. I stomped my right foot until it found the bottom. I immediately filled the glass again. This one was stouter than the first by a considerable margin. I took another big drink but could only get about half if it down before coughing.

“Son of a bitch,” I mumbled while wiping off my chin.

I walked to the living room and sat down in my Lazy Boy. There was a picture of Missy on the table. I picked it up and looked at her smiling face. How could that son of a bitch do this to her? She deserved better than Brayden Tucker. I thought about calling her and breaking the news. It would devastate her. I wanted to be there for her when the news came. I also knew that it wasn’t my place to tell her. If Brayden had enough balls to confess, she deserved to hear it from him. I set the picture down and picked up my glass. I was stuck and there was only one thing left for me to do. I downed the rest of my glass and got up to retrieve another.
