Chapter Five

Braylon’s mind reeled. He’d just had a meeting with not only William Roush but the much sterner brother, Kaiser. Evidently, Tyrone had taken Braylon’s warnings seriously, so the older brother had decided to sit in and hear his concerns first hand.

It’d been as intimidating as hell.

Still, Braylon had found it nice that those obviously powerful people had taken him at his word, accepting his warnings at face value. They’d still offered him a job as a junior assistant to one of their marine biologists. He’d be working with a man named Rawlins Sinkirs during his next and final four-hour community service-like shifts.

Braylon could hardly contain his excitement, even with the fair amount of trepidation he felt. As soon as he put in his two-week notice at his father’s company, there’d be hell to pay. He wondered if it was possible to skip the notice.

How bad would that look to the Roushs? They’d offered him part-time work immediately, after all. Just as they’d worked the community service hours around his regular work schedule, they were willing to do the same for his new position’s hours.

“I can practically see the steam coming out of your ears.”

Upon hearing Tyrone’s teasing tone, Braylon glanced over at the man who was guiding him away from the attractions. He told him they were going to the private residence section. Evidently, Tyrone lived right on site, as did most of the staff. They even had a private beach.

Braylon still couldn’t believe the Roush brothers had offered him a place at the complex. He wondered if screwing around with Tyrone would end up awkward once the big man was tired of him. Braylon couldn’t imagine it would be the other way around.

The man was just beyond sexy.

Even with what could be called a spare tire around his middle, Tyrone pushed all of Braylon’s buttons. He was taller, a lot taller at six-foot-eight, which he loved. His arms and legs were well muscled, and his pectorals begged to be nuzzled and licked.

Braylon wanted to lick and nip every inch of the huge male.

So hot!

“Bray?”

Oh, and he gave me a nickname.

Hearing Tyrone’s deep voice rumble the shortened version of his name, Braylon yanked his gaze to him. He spotted the hunger in the man’s eyes banked by an expression of concern. Wanting to put the man at ease, he smiled at him.

“I’m a little overwhelmed,” Braylon admitted, shrugging. “This place, the people here, not what I expected.” He scoffed and rolled his eyes. “Hell, all this sure ain’t what I expected when I got caught shoplifting.” Grimacing, he muttered, “Still can’t believe I agreed to do that, either. Such a dumb moment.”

“It was,” Tyrone agreed, his tone laced with amusement. “But it brought you to me, so I won’t hold it against you.”

Braylon nodded slowly. “I hadn’t thought of it that way.”

“Did your buddies apologize?” Tyrone asked, lifting a brow curiously.

“For what?” Braylon responded absently. He stopped walking, and his jaw sagged open. The view was... spectacular. “Wow!”

They’d just rounded a bend in the road which cut between the hillside and some kind of rock face.
