Bryce slid from under Finn, careful not to wake his mate. He still couldn’t believe he had woken up this morning with Finn in his bed. He had half thought that Finn would have shimmered out during the night, but it seemed the man had decided he wanted to keep Bryce. They had made love another few times before literally collapsing from exhaustion, but Finn hadn’t finished the bonding process yet. Bryce had felt a little disappointed, but then he had thought about the fact that it was already a big step for Finn to trust him enough to give him his virginity and passing the night together not even a day after they had talked and decided to give a try at having a relationship.

They had already made so much progress, and Bryce couldn’t have been happier. He wanted this to work. Grabbing his jeans from the floor, he headed toward the door, stopping at the dresser to take a shirt. He was going to go down to the kitchen and bring back breakfast for Finn. The poor man had to be tired with what had happened the day before, and Bryce wanted him to sleep as much as he could. His only concern was that someone could pop in the room while he was away, but he was going to be really quick and hopefully nothing would happen. He didn’t know how long they could stay vigilant in their own home, though. That was the place in which one should be able to relax, and it wasn’t the case now. They would have to come up with a plan to stop Finn’s old clan leader from looking for him.

Stepping down the stairs, Bryce heard voices coming from the dining room. Looking up at the clock in the entrance, he winced. He hadn’t thought it was already so late. Luckily for him he worked for Ward, so he knew his friend would understand. After all, Bryce had pitched in for him when Ward was trying to woo Jamie into accepting him as a mate, and they were best friends.

Peeking in, Bryce took care to be seen only by Jamie and motioned to him to make Ward get out of the room. Bryce wasn’t ready yet for the stares and smiles he knew the other members of the pride would give him when they found out he had finally given in and admitted he wanted Finn. He loved them all, well, nearly all of them, but they could be a nosy bunch when they wanted to and he wanted to enjoy his nearly mated status a little bit more before starting to answer the thousand questions that would come his way. Jamie would already ask a lot of those, since he saw the human getting up and following his mate as Ward came up to him.

“What’s up?” Ward took in Bryce’s disheveled appearance and smiled, probably knowing very well what was up. Shifter’s sense of smell was a bitch when you were trying to hide something like that.
