Ch 8

Half Naked Lesbian

Kate would have to come clean. Have to explain it all to her father. The party, the drinking, the fight at school, the fight at the party, Amy's drunken assault. She'd probably have to tell him about Skyy living in her car. Her dad was a good, compassionate guy, he wouldn't turn away someone in need. But she feared if she started to explain everything, the rest would come tumbling out in the worst case of word vomit ever. The drug-related after school attack, her barrage of conflicting feelings. It was all something she didn't want to deal with, at least not now. She didn't think she could handle it.

But as her mind conjured up what ifs, she knew she would never forgive herself if she didn't help and something happened to Skyy because people were too drunk to notice and help.

“Really, Kate, she's fine here. She'll be fine,” Ryan said.

“I know. I'm sure she would. I'd just feel better if I were the one watching her,” Kate said, finally making up her mind.

She knew in her hear,t she'd made the decision the second she'd thought it, it just took a minute for her brain to catch up with her heart.

“Ok.” Ryan nodded slowly.

“Can I ask you a favor?”

“Yeah, sure. Course,” Ryan said.

“Skyy's shirt is soaked. Can she borrow one from you? My dad will totally freak.”

“Shit, yeah. No problem,” Ryan said as he headed for the room then glanced over his shoulder. “But you're not calling your dad. I'll drive you.”

“Thanks, I appreciate that, but it's okay. And you've been drinking,” Kate tried to decline as politely as she could.

She had no desire to get pulled over with a car full of intoxicated minors, one with a bleeding head injury. It seemed like the perfect recipe for disaster.

“It's totally cool. I told you, I've only had a few. Nothing like your friend getting attacked, to kill your buzz, ya know?” Ryan said with a smile. “It's cool, I'm good. Promise.”

Kate bit her lip. Ryan looked more than a little concerned. He wanted to help, she could understand that. He needed to feel useful.

“Okay,” Kate agreed as they reached Ryan's bedroom door.

Ryan smiled and nodded then moved inside. She was a little shocked to see Ryan walk into the room where Skyy was lying on the bed in only a bra and jeans. She glanced at the girl, expecting to see Skyy scramble to cover up or yell at Ryan for privacy. Instead, she barely moved, completely unfazed by the intrusion.

Kate watched the girl closely, noting how beat up and exhausted the girl looked. Maybe she felt so terrible she didn't care?

Ryan crossed the room to a small dresser and pulled out a red t-shirt with some skateboard logo on it and handed it to Kate.

“What? Not a fan of half naked lesbians in your bed? Such a prude. You know, most guys would kill for this. Wait, are you...gay?” Skyy said, teasing Ryan.

“Ha ha. You're such a dick,” Ryan said.
