Chapter Nine

She woke up the next morning wrapped in his arms, naked and suffused with a delicious sense of sexual abandon.

The handcuffs dangled from the headboard. They’d been put to good use, then set aside while she and Eric became all hands and lips, teeth and tongues, coming together over and over again in an orgy of mutual satisfaction.

Maggie smiled at the memory. Her muscles ached from the things they’d done, and she didn’t mind it a bit. Snuggling closer to him, she turned her face so that she could kiss his chest, tonguing his nipple until he made a gloriously satisfied sound and twitched, responding to her touch even in sleep.

Then she felt his hand on the back of her head, stroking her hair, and knew he wasn’t sleeping.

She looked up at him and smiled. “Morning.”

“Morning,” he said. “That was the best wakeup call I’ve ever had. My chest thanks you.”

Maggie propped herself up on her elbow. “It should be the other way around. I thank your chest.”

“Really? Let’s discuss this. Exactly why should my chest be thanked?”

She ran her palm across his chest. “Because it’s broad and muscular, and when I kiss your nipples, your whole body comes alive.”

“Interesting,” he said, grinning as he sat up and pushed her gently onto her back. “The broad and muscular part doesn’t apply to your chest.” He bent and kissed her breast, and Maggie squirmed beneath him, her breath going crazy. “But the nipple-kissing reaction is exactly the same,” he observed and slid over her, looking into her face, his expression suddenly serious. “Why did you come back?”

Maggie shook her head and answered honestly. “I’m not sure. It just seemed right somehow.” Then she realized she was being too solemn, and she didn’t want solemn, not when she was in his arms. So she shrugged and added, “Anyhow it seemed like a good time to get away since I finally realized my nose is too short and I’m growing another chin.”

He stared at her as though she had lost her mind. “You’re also insane, but I can deal with it.”

“No, that’s what David’s niece said at the wedding. She heard it from David’s grandmother.”

Eric nodded. “Good, that means his grandmother is insane, and luckily I don’t have to deal with her.” He kissed her nose, nuzzled her chin. “You know, last night was the best workout I’ve ever had.”

She stretched beneath him. “Me, too.”

“Can we do it again?”

Maggie couldn’t help smiling at his hopeful expression. As if there was any doubt what her answer would be. “Definitely. When?”

He glanced at the clock on her nightstand. “It’s only six thirty. Now?”

“You’re on.”

“Tonight, too?” he said.

Maggie nodded.

“How about tomorrow night?”

“Yes,” she said.

“The night after that, too, and the one after that and after that?”

“All of the above,” Maggie said and smiled.

It was going to be a busy summer. But in the best possible way.
