Chapter 7

~Angelica~

“Come inside so I can fix that nose!” She says in disgust walking back into the house looking over her shoulder to make sure that Ethan was following her. She knew that he was wrong, that Vinny wasn’t with her because he wanted to get back at Hunter. He loved her, he said, so now that Ethan knew if it was just revenge, he would have said so to his face.

She didn’t like the violence that came with her family but when Vinny hit Ethan in the face to protect her honor, she felt butterflies in her stomach. She had never had a man care enough for her to stick up for her like that.

She tended to Ethan’s nose in silence, cleaning up the blood and putting a stabilizing strip across his nose.

“Do you really have feelings for him, Angelica? Vinny of all people?”

She put her hands on her hips and glared at her cousin, “Yes! I have feelings for him! I don’t care that he is a Southie and you have a problem with it. In fact, I have had feelings for him for a long time he was one of the reasons I went to Italy. I fell for him when I was younger and knew that nothing could come of it because of all of this drama. I just want to love who I love and live my life. What if Brooke was a Southie? You would be doing the same as me.”

He doesn’t respond, just pulls his phone from his pocket and dials Hunter putting it on speaker.

“This better be good I am on my honeymoon for one more fucking day.” Hunter’s voice roars through the speaker making them both winces.

Angelica jumps in before Ethan can speak. “Hunter it is Angelica. Ethan came over to my house early this morning and found Vinny and me together. We are dating and have no intention of stopping.”

Silence greeted her statement and Ethan watched her warily as he waited for Hunter to respond.

“You are dating Vinny, as in leader of the Southies Vinny?” His voice is like ice chilling her through the phone line.

“Yes, we are in love and there is nothing you can do to stop this.”

“We will have this conversation when I return Angelica. Ethan call me when you leave.” The line disconnects, and Ethan closes her eyes.

He stands up to leave, “I hope that this is real Angelica because this thing between you and Vinny it could start a war.” He walks out of her place and she sits down hard on the stool.

All she wants to do is love who she loves. She can’t help that it is Vinny, but she doesn’t want to start a war. She will have to break it off with him. At least she got her one night with him, a night that she will remember for the rest of her life.

She sinks down onto the floor and cries for what might have been. She can leave someone else in charge of the business here in the United States it was a bad idea to come back here.
