Capture

It took nearly a day for the Lucy to close down business, get its customers to leave, and undock from the docking port. We were waiting for Beverly and her ship a short distance from the space station for the rendezvous.

The Lucy was an old freighter. Its construction was larger than most starships of her class. The Queen Anne's Revenge was also an old ship, with a lot of hangar space, but not big enough for the Lucy. She had docking clamps and gantry on the upper deck for handling freighters and scout ships that wouldn't fit into her hangers. I had the Lucy dock there. We wouldn't be able to use the dorsal shuttle bay while the Lucy was docked with my ship. That was okay; it was nearly empty with only the captain's launch hangared there.

We could make better time with the Lucy docked to us, than we could while flying in formation. Her sublight engines were not very powerful. They would strain to bring the freighter up to .2c, and that would take the time that we needed to catch up to the thieves.

"Natty, plot a course to the Castel System."

"Captain, Beverly reports that docking is complete, and the Lucy is ready for transit," Tanya reported. "Why are we bringing her along?"

"We may have to transfer the cargo from the freighter to the Lucy after we capture it."

"Captain, our course is plotted. Our first jump will take us to the Auelra System. We will reach the nearest jump point in 12 hours."

"Proceed."

Our maneuvering thrusters fired, changing our heading, then our main engines fired accelerating the Queen Anne's Revenge, and the Lucy toward the jump point.

"Beverly, what in the hell are you doing in my quarters, and in my bed?"

"Sis, we have the night. Sultan is busy, and I want the company of a man. Come, join me in bed, and share Nathaniel with me. I miss the old days when we use to share our boyfriends."

"Nathaniel is my husband, not someone I picked up to play with."

Amber and sister her, both together, would have been something I would have enjoyed just a few months ago. But now, I only desired my wife, and maybe Jewel. I didn't have any feelings for Beverly beyond the one night we shared together on Arcturus, and I didn't remember anything but the morning afterward.

Amber and her sister were identical twins. They looked alike, had the same taste in clothing, but their personalities were different. They were nearly opposites of each other. Beverly was controlling and adventurous. While Amber was sweet and easy going, but she could also be devious, troublesome, and lied when it suited her.

"I am married too, but I would gladly share Sultan with you."

"I've said it before; I have no interest in him. Sultan is all yours. Now get out of my bed!"

"Very well, but if you should change your mind, you know where to find us.
