The Camaro sat in the barn, a silent iconic image of an innocent moment in a young man’s life. Dust particles swirled and dived around it, putting on an intricate dance bathed by the moonbeams shining through the spaces between the wooden planks of the building.

Shadows moved, and one seemed to separate itself from the others. It slid towards the car, almost like it wanted to touch it. The edge of the tarp covering the car twitched, like a wind teased along it.

The sound of a door slamming, then a vehicle starting drifted over the scene. In an instant, the shadows were merely darkness and the pieces of dust floated away, unconcerned by anything else that might have been there.
